Committee Meeting Agenda The Agenda for the Committee meeting on the 8th March can AGM MinutesThe Minutes from The AGM held at the conference in January 2007 are available on request from Jackie Shields. Email Jackie Shields and will also be available on line HERE World RecordsOn Saturday June 3rd at Longleat Safari Park Wiltshire, two teams of painters made up mostly of FACE members, attempted to break the team face painting world records. This was a great place to be and the atmosphere was electric with the anticipation of all the people involved. The first one to be attempted was the 5 person one hour challenge. The record stood at 399. The team started out fast and continued this for the complete hour. At the end and after the Guinness officials had counted all the numbers, it was announced that they had set a NEW World Record of 405. Congratulations go to Sandra Crofts, Helen Eyre(www.catswhiskers.co.uk) and Kath Monday(www.fizogg.co.uk). The next challenge was a new speed and endurance record. The Guinness officials set the record at 600. With everyone assembled the challenged started with a flurry of hands painting and people being moved into chairs. The crowds were fantastic and some even going round several times to get painted. It was even known that a girl had gone round about seventeen times to be painted. This continued for the four hours in the intense heat but now one gave up. After the challenge, the Guinness officials announced that a New World Record had been set with the team managing to paint a fantastic 989. Congratulations go to Kath Monday, Claire Pick(www.picktorial.co.uk) , Julie Oliver (www.myfunkyfaces.co.uk) and Linda Matthews(www.cakesandfaces.co.uk). The other team member on this challenge was Kate Dean who had come along just to help. But at the last minute was asked to take part as they had lost a member of the team. Well done to her. Also thanks must be given to the painters families and helpers who made sure people were ready to be painted and that there was a continuous flow of people. Lord Bath even got into the spirit of the event by having his face painted with a Butterfly. All in all is was a great success and a lot of money was raised for the Rainbow Trust. Again, congratulations to all who took part." In PrintThompson Learning have just launched a new book for Make-up Artists called The Complete Guide to Make-up by Suzanne Le Quesne. Each section is painted by a professional who specialises in a certain field & the featured artist for the face painting section is our own FACE Chairperson Paula Southern! Paula was approached by 3 Kings Theatrical as the books major sponsor to produce 5 faces, two of which are in step by step format, to demonstrate the finer art of today's face painting. The inclusion of such a large chapter in such a book shows how the art of face painting has evolved and is now becoming an accepted arm of the make up industry. Paula painted a tiger, a monster & some pretty adult eye designs during a two day shoot at the 3 Kings studios in May 2004. The book is available for general sale at good bookstores & specialist retailers. Cover GirlsTwo of our FACE members have been fronting magazines this year, Kat Ramsey secured the front cover of the March issue of Rugby World. This was a unique move for the magazine as it was the first time it had not been fronted by a rugby player. The cover involved 4 different national designs, one for England, Scotland, Ireland & Wales, each being used for the national editions and the English one being used for the international edition. See Kat and her cover here on her web site. Our other front page went to Jax Brisley who works for DWP in her spare time. She was asked to create something special for the company in-house magazine who were running an article in the February edition on how couples had met & married through work, the result a fabulous tattoo on a bulging bicep and beautiful rambling rose pattern on her models back. Winner in our midst!Wow! Our champion body painter, Raphaelle Fieldhouse, has done it again! Last time it was number 1 at the Fardel International Body Painting Festival in Brussels back in March 2004, this time in July, Raph found the number 1 slot again in the Sponge & Brush Competition at the World Body Painting Festival in Seeboden, Austria. Check out her website at www.bodycanvas.co.uk for pictures from both competitions and the whole story. Congratulations Raph!! International MembershipFACE is ten years old this year and to celebrate we are going International! We are pleased to be able to offer International applicants the opportunity to join FACE. There has been quite a lot of discussion and thought on this decision. This membership will be processed in the same way as the UK. In the beginning, the test will be supervised by a FACE member who is travelling in your area. Eventually, these tests will be run by local, approved FACE International members. Keep checking our news page for details of dates and places. The main difference will be that international members must provide their own insurance, as despite our endeavours, we are unable to arrange a world wide policy (and anyone who has ever dealt with insurers will know the uphill battle we faced). International Membership is £56 and includes a subscription
(with international postage) to our quarterly magazine
“Face to Face” as well as a FACE mirror, T shirt, pen, key
ring, certificate, membership card, balloons and many new friends! Members
become part of a worldwide network of facepainters, they share ideas,
designs, information, problems etc.. There are
also discounts on FP
products, entry into FACE competitions,
a huge welcome at the annual Conference, Listing in the Directory and
on the Web Site. Junior MembershipMore celebrations! We are also introducing Junior Membership! Natasha Wood is the first
